Meet the Founder
Why I Started THGS
I’m Alysia: lifelong horse girl, spicy mare owner (shoutout to Felicity), and the founder of both Bay Mare Design and The Horse Girl Startup.
I started Bay Mare Design in 2021 to bring equine businesses out of the stone age with modern websites and branding. But I quickly realized that most new equestrian entrepreneurs weren’t ready to invest in custom design projects. They were still figuring out their offers, scraping together startup money, or just plain overwhelmed by where to even begin.
I tried to keep my pricing low, but it just wasn’t realistic for custom work. So I found myself thinking: “Why isn’t there an affordable way for horse girls to get the tools they need to launch without spending thousands?”
The Gap I Saw (and Lived)
The more I thought about it, the more I realized the problem went way beyond websites and branding.
What was missing were the actual resources to help horse businesses get off the ground. Starting a business is hard enough, but when you add in the quirks of the horse world? It can feel downright impossible.
I’ve been there. Wondering what paperwork you actually need. Stressing over how to find clients who will pay. Trying to figure out where to even begin without wasting time and money.
That’s when The Horse Girl Startup was born.
